Dyslexia Screen
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Individuals Ages 5.5 to adult:
For children when parents are wondering if their child is symptomatic of dyslexia. **This is a good option to help decide if investing in the more expensive and comprehensive assessment is needed.
For adults who have always felt like they have symptoms of dyslexia.
For individuals who:
Do not remember what they read.
Do not have a strategy beyond guessing for words they do not know.
Do not read fast and smooth.
Dislike reading.
Find spelling and expressing themselves in writing hard.
Generally have significantly stronger listening and speaking skills as compared to reading and writing skills.
Screen Details:
Direct Screen Duration: Average of 30 minutes
Total Appointment Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours, and includes: direct screening time, scoring, analysis, and a verbal consult to review results and recommendations. A written summary of scores for the screened areas with a statement of the likelihood of dyslexia along with next step recommendations.
Testing Format: Virtual or On-site
Screen Professional: Speech Language Pathologists
Cost: $150.00 (private pay only)
Payment: Must be paid in full on the day of the scheduled screening appointment.
Deposit: Nonrefundable deposit of $50.00 to hold the appointment. The deposit is a credit applied towards the total cost of the screen.
Invoice: There is no guarantee that a HSA or HRA will accept this as there is no medical code associated with this service.
A screening is NOT diagnostic, but will lead to further recommendations if a more comprehensive evaluation is indicated. A screening will tell us if the individual would benefit from Orton-Gillingham Language Based Dyslexia intervention, or other possible next steps.
