Basic Language Evaluation

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Ages 5 to 12 who:

  • Language Understanding and Expression: MAY have trouble following directions, expressing ideas clearly, or understanding spoken/written language.

  • Speech Production: MAY have difficulties pronouncing sounds while talking.

  • Cognitive Struggles: MAY have decreased memory or problem-solving skills, difficulty with attention.

  • Reading and Writing:  MAY have trouble understanding what they read, spelling, or writing down their thoughts.

This is ideal for:

  • Families seeking fast answers.

  • Children who may only be able to tolerate limited testing, as compared to the longer Complex Language Evaluation.

  • Parents who suspect dyslexia but don’t require a formal diagnosis.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Evaluation Includes:

  • Any speech or language-based diagnoses discovered, such as speech disorders related to articulation production, childhood apraxia of speech, phonological speech disorders, and any expressive or receptive-related disorders related to listening, speaking, reading and writing.

    Treatment recommendations, if indicated.

  • Direct Testing Duration:

    Average of 2 hours

  • Total Appointment Length:  

    Approximately 3 hours, and includes:  direct testing, scoring, analyzing, and consultation, with results and recommendations in the same day.  Write report to follow within 5 business days if unable to be presented on the day of evaluation.

  • Testing Format:

    Can be virtual or on-site.
